It has been a week since I have posted...its the busy season for sure....I have sat and listened to the atrocities committed on American democracy all week.... I guess I could not decide which story deserved my immediate attention, there were so many....from CIA destroying tapes, to Telecoms immunity, to New Orleans demolitions, to Bush & cronies howlings at the flag....The slew of fascist-dictatorial activity originating at the highest levels of government since 2000 are just now being embryonically realized...what average American citizens are witness to today.....is just the surface of deep inroads laid down by severely disturbed, democracy loathing, Neo-Cons of this new American century....the list is long and unrelenting.....As the people prepare for the start of a new year, may we have courage to open our eyes and see the truth , may we have strength to fight for our freedoms and liberties, & may we have the perseverance to put the "actual" terrorists on trial. These actions would be genuinely patriotic.
May we be Awake and in-ACTION mode in 2008.

In certain ways, the Rights & Liberties Top 10 list is the most depressing of the year. Nevertheless it demonstrates why consistent and critical media coverage is crucial for beating back the erosion of our basic freedoms. And it should give us hope for the new year, for as many problems the conservative stranglehold has created in our present, we have the power, and the knowledge, to shape the future.
