I thought it was about time someone held Ms. Palin's feet to the fire about the repeative use of the word : "Maveric" ...thank you Senator Biden.

Make-Believe Maverick
A closer look at the life and career of John McCain reveals a disturbing record of recklessness and dishonesty. By: TIM DICKINSON

McCAIN FIRST
"This is the story of the real John McCain, the one who has been hiding in plain sight. It is the story of a man who has consistently put his own advancement above all else, a man willing to say and do anything to achieve his ultimate ambition: to become commander in chief, ascending to the one position that would finally enable him to outrank his four-star father and grandfather.
In its broad strokes, McCain's life story is oddly similar to that of the current occupant of the White House. John Sidney McCain III and George Walker Bush both represent the third generation of American dynasties. Both were born into positions of privilege against which they rebelled into mediocrity. Both developed an uncanny social intelligence that allowed them to skate by with a minimum of mental exertion. Both struggled with booze and loutish behavior. At each step, with the aid of their fathers' powerful friends, both failed upward. And both shed their skins as Episcopalian members of the Washington elite to build political careers as self-styled, ranch-inhabiting Westerners who pray to Jesus in their wives' evangelical churches.
In one vital respect, however, the comparison is deeply unfair to the current president: George W. Bush was a much better pilot.
This, of course, is not the story McCain tells about himself. Few politicians have so actively, or successfully, crafted their own myth of greatness. In Mc- Cain's version of his life, he is a prodigal son who, steeled by his brutal internment in Vietnam, learned to put "country first." Remade by the Keating Five scandal that nearly wrecked his career, the story goes, McCain re-emerged as a "reformer" and a "maverick," righteously eschewing anything that "might even tangentially be construed as a less than proper use of my office."
It's a myth McCain has cultivated throughout his decades in Washington. But during the course of this year's campaign, the mask has slipped. "Let's face it," says Larry Wilkerson, a retired Army colonel who served as chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell. "John McCain made his reputation on the fact that he doesn't bend his principles for politics. That's just not true."
We have now watched McCain run twice for president. The first time he positioned himself as a principled centrist and decried the politics of Karl Rove and the influence of the religious right, imploring voters to judge candidates "by the example we set, by the way we conduct our campaigns, by the way we personally practice politics." After he lost in 2000, he jagged hard to the left — breaking with the president over taxes, drilling, judicial appointments, even flirting with joining the Democratic Party.
In his current campaign, however, McCain has become the kind of politician he ran against in 2000. He has embraced those he once denounced as "agents of intolerance," promised more drilling and deeper tax cuts, even compromised his vaunted opposition to torture. Intent on winning the presidency at all costs, he has reassembled the very team that so viciously smeared him and his family eight years ago, selecting as his running mate a born-again moose hunter whose only qualification for office is her ability to electrify Rove's base. And he has engaged in a "practice of politics" so deceptive that even Rove himself has denounced it, saying that the outright lies in McCain's campaign ads go "too far" and fail the "truth test."
The missing piece of this puzzle, says a former McCain confidant who has fallen out with the senator over his neoconservatism, is a third, never realized, campaign that McCain intended to run against Bush in 2004. "McCain wanted a rematch, based on ethics, campaign finance and Enron — the corrupt relationship between Bush's team and the corporate sector," says the former friend, a prominent conservative thinker with whom McCain shared his plans over the course of several dinners in 2001. "But when 9/11 happened, McCain saw his chance to challenge Bush again was robbed. He saw 9/11 gave Bush and his failed presidency a second life. He saw Bush and Cheney's ability to draw stark contrasts between black and white, villains and good guys. And that's why McCain changed." (The McCain campaign did not respond to numerous requests for comment from Rolling Stone.)
Indeed, many leading Republicans who once admired McCain see his recent contortions to appease the GOP base as the undoing of a maverick. "John McCain's ambition overrode his basic character," says Rita Hauser, who served on the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board from 2001 to 2004. But the truth of the matter is that ambition is John McCain's basic character. Seen in the sweep of his seven-decade personal history, his pandering to the right is consistent with the only constant in his life: doing what's best for himself. To put the matter squarely: John McCain is his own special interest."

CREW Sues Cheney Over Records - Court Orders VP Chief of Staff to Be Deposed
On September 8th, CREW, along with two eminent historians and three organizations of historians and archivists, filed a complaint against Vice President Cheney, the Office of the Vice President, the archivist and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). CREW's lawsuit alleges that Vice President Cheney is not preserving his papers as required by the Presidential Records Act (PRA). In an executive order issued in 2001, President Bush declared that the PRA applied only to the "executive records" of the vice president.

Since that time, the vice president has made the claim that he is not part of the executive branch. In addition, the archivist has claimed that the congressional records of a vice president are his personal, not presidential, records and that he is free to dispose of them at will. As a result of these unlawful policies, without judicial intervention, on January 20, 2009, the vast majority of Vice President Cheney's records will not be transferred to NARA for eventual release to the public, but instead will remain under the vice president's custody and control. CREW also sought an order mandating preservation of all of the vice president's records pending the lawsuit.
On September 20th, a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction requiring Vice President Cheney, the Office of the Vice President, the Executive Office of the President, the archivist and NARA to preserve all vice presidential records.

Four days later, the court granted CREW's request to take the depositions of David Addington, Vice President Cheney's chief of staff, and Nancy Smith, a NARA official responsible for presidential papers under the PRA. These depositions should help us discover whether critical administration records are being preserved or deliberately lost to future generations.
Finally, just this week, on the eve of the first scheduled deposition, Vice President Cheney and the other defendants took the extraordinary step of filing an emergency petition for a writ of mandamus with the Court of Appeals in order to stop the depositions from going forward.
This latest legal ploy by the White House is an effort to prevent the public from learning the truth about records that belong to the American people.

A 16-yo girl I know named Rose was recently at a political rally in Detroit. She was able to shake the hand of Barack Obama. Rose told me she spoke to him. Her words: "I believe in You"
I believe too..
Vote Obama/Biden Nov 4th

I urge American Women to Vote....below is the description of a woman...it is also a description of a movement...the right wing, christian fundamental, neocon, imperialistic, democracy hating movement that has held America and her allies hostage for the last 8 yrs...it has tortured Liberty, it has started a war against Truth. It has murdered Justice. This movement will destroy "life as we know it".
I urge you to pay attention...I urge you to see with your eyes...I urge you to think....I urge you to trust your instincts and most importantly.,..I urge you to ACT... in the words of the creators of Brave New Films....."psssst..... do something".

Eve Ensler, the American playwright, performer, feminist and activist best known for 'The Vagina Monologues', wrote the following about Sarah Palin.
"Drill, Drill, Drill I am having Sarah Palin nightmares. I don't like raging at women. "
"I am a Feminist and have spent my life trying to build community, help empower women and stop violence against them. It is hard to write about Sarah Palin."
"This is why the Sarah Palin choice was all the more insidious and cynical. The people who made this choice count on the goodness and solidarity of Feminists. But everything Sarah Palin believes in and practices is antithetical to Feminism which for me is part of one story -- connected to saving the earth, ending racism, empowering women, giving young girls options, opening our minds, deepening tolerance, and ending violence and war.
I believe that the McCain/Palin ticket is one of the most dangerous choices of my lifetime, and should this country chose those candidates the fall-out may be so great, the destruction so vast in so many areas that America may never recover. But what is equally disturbing is the impact that duo would have on the rest of the world. Unfortunately, this is not a joke.

In my lifetime I have seen the clownish, the inept, the bizarre be elected to the presidency with regularity.
Sarah Palin does not believe in evolution. I take this as a metaphor. In her world and the world of Fundamentalists nothing changes or gets better or evolves.

She does not believe in global warming. The melting of the arctic, the storms that are destroying our cities, the pollution and rise of cancers, are all part of God's plan.
She is fighting to take the polar bears off the endangered species list. The earth, in Palin's view, is here to be taken and plundered. The wolves and the bears are here to be shot and plundered. The oil is here to be taken and plundered. Iraq is here to be taken and plundered. As she said herself of the Iraqi war, 'It was a task from God.'
Sarah Palin does not believe in abortion. She does not believe women who are raped and incested and ripped open against their will should have a right to determine whether they have their rapist's baby or not.
She obviously does not believe in sex education or birth control. I imagine her daughter was practicing abstinence and we know how many babies that makes.
Sarah Palin does not much believe in thinking. From what I gather she has tried to ban books from the library, has a tendency to dispense with people who think independently.

She cannot tolerate an environment of ambiguity and difference. This is a woman who could and might very well be the next president of the United States.
She would govern one of the most diverse populations on the earth.
Sarah believes in guns. She has her own custom Austrian hunting rifle. She has been known to kill 40 caribou at a clip. She has shot hundreds of wolves from the air.
Sarah believes in God.

That is of course her right, her private right. But when God and Guns come together in the public sector, when war is declared in God's name, when the rights of women are denied in his name, that is the end of separation of church and state and the undoing of everything America has ever tried to be.
I write to my sisters. I write because I believe we hold this election in our hands. This vote is a vote that will determine the future not just of the U.S., but of the planet.

It will determine whether we create policies to save the earth or make it forever uninhabitable for humans.
It will determine whether we move towards dialogue and diplomacy in the world or whether we escalate violence through invasion, undermining and attack. It will determine whether we go for oil, strip mining, coal burning or invest our money in alternatives that will free us from dependency and destruction.
It will determine if money gets spent on education and healthcare or whether we build more and more methods of killing. It will determine whether America is a free open tolerant society or a closed place of fear, fundamentalism and aggression.
If the Polar Bears don't move you to go and do everything in your power to get Obama elected then consider the chant that filled the hall after Palin spoke at the RNC, 'Drill Drill Drill.' I think of teeth when I think of drills. I think of rape. I think of destruction. I think of domination. I think of military exercises that force mindless repetition, emptying the brain of analysis, doubt, ambiguity or dissent. I think of pain.
Do we want a future of drilling? More holes in the ozone, in the floor of the sea, more holes in our thinking, in the trust between nations and peoples, more holes in the fabric of this precious thing we call life? "
Eve EnslerSeptember 5, 2008
PBS is doing one of those instant online polls to ask 'America' if they think Sarah Palin is fit to be Vice President. The GOP has launched a successful all out blitz to get Republicans to go on the site and click 'Yes'. As a result right now it looks like 62% of 'America' thinks Palin is qualified. The Republicans are going to be milking this for all its worth in their press efforts. We need to drive more Democrats and those opposed to Palin to the site to click 'NO'. Let's not give the GOP another easy weapon to put in their PR arsenal!

Found this public service annoucement over at : http://rstr.wordpress.com/2008/07/25/a-little-something-about-msg/
Thank you Michael S. -----
Isnt it amazing MSG is not being investigated by the FDA--oh that's right, the FDA was hyjacked by the Bush Administration in 2002....
Anyone see the ridiculous LYING advertisements now running during evening time TV hours. "Highfructose Corn Syrup" is good for you.
Once investigated these posions are owned and operated by some of the same folks that brought you "Iraq" "Katrina" "Bail-out" "MOnsanto" ect.....they are getting rich off of poisoning us... it works as a complete system---put these poisons in the foods....people get sick and need drugs to cure the disease the food additives create....hmmmmmmm.
A little something about MSG
MSG is in a majority of food products. Studies show it is linked to obesity, diabetes, ADHD and more. read below.
The Slow POISONING OF MANKIND by John Erb
We the public do not want to be rats in one giant experiment!
MSG. The food additive MSG (Mono-Sodium Glutamate) is a slowpoison. MSG hides behind 25 or more names, such as ‘NaturalFlavoring.’
MSG is even in your favorite coffee from Tim Horton’s andStarbucks coffee shops!
I wondered if there could be an actual chemical causing themassive obesity epidemic, and so did a friend of mine, John Erb. Hewas a research assistant at the University of Waterloo inOntario ,Canada , and spent years working for the government. He made anamazing discovery while going through scientific journals for a bookhe was writing called The Slow Poisoning of America .
In hundreds of studies around the world, scientists werecreating obese mice and rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies. No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so scientists have tocreate them. They make these creatures morbidly obese by injectingthem with MSG when they are first born.
The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates, causing rats (and perhaps humans) to become obese. They even have aname for the fat rodents they create: ‘MSG-Treated Rats.’
When I heard this, I was shocked. I went into my kitchen andchecked the cupboards and the refrigerator. MSG was in everything –the Campbell ’s soups, theHostess Doritos, the Lays flavored potatochips, Top Ramen, Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper, Heinz canned gravy,Swanson frozen prepared meals, and Kraft salad dressings, especially the ‘healthy low-fat’ ones.
The items that didn’t have MSG marked on the product labelhad something called ‘Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein,’ which is justanother name for Monosodium Glutamate.
It was shocking to see just how many of the foods we feed ourchildren everyday are filled with this stuff. MSG is hidden undermany different names in order to fool those who read the ingredientlist, so that they don’t catch on. (Other names for MSG are ‘Accent,‘Aginomoto,’ ‘Natural Meat Tenderizer,’ etc.)
But it didn’t stop there.
When our family went out to eat, we started asking at therestaurants what menu items contained MSG. Many employees, eventhemanagers, swore they didn’t use MSG.
But when we asked for the ingredient list, which theygrudgingly provided, sure enough, MSG and Hydrolyzed VegetableProtein were everywhere.
Burger King, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, every restaurant– even the sit-down eateries like TGIF, Chili’s,
Applebee’s, and Denny’s — use MSG in abundance. Kentucky FriedChicken seemed to be the WORST offender: MSG was in every chickendish, salad dressing. and gravy. No wonder I loved to eat that
coating on the skin — their secret spice was MSG!
So why is MSG in so many of the foods we eat? Is it apreservative, or a vitamin?
Not according to my friend John Erb. In his book The SlowPoisoning of America , he said that MSG is added to food for theaddictive effect it has on the human body.
Even thepropaganda website sponsored by the foodmanufacturers lobby group supporting MSG explains that the reasonthey add it to food is to make people eat more.
A study of the elderly showed that older people eat more ofthe foods that it is added to. The Glutamate Association lobbyinggroup says eating more is a benefit to the elderly, but what does itdo to the rest of us?
‘Betcha can’t eat [just] one,’ takes on a whole newmeaningwhere MSG is concerned! And we wonder why the nation is overweight!
MSG manufacturers themselves admit that it addicts people totheir products. It makes people choose their product over others, and makes people eat more of it than they would if MSG wasn’t added.
Not only is MSG scientifically proven to cause obesity, it isan addictive substance. Since its introduction into the Americanfood supply fiftyyears ago, MSG has been added in larger and largerdoses to the pre-packaged meals, soups, snacks, and fast foods we aretempted to eat everyday.
The FDA has set no limits on how much of it can be added tofood. They claim it’s safe to eat in any amount. But how can theyclaim it’s safe when there are hundreds of scientific studies withtitles like these:
‘The monosodium glutamate (MSG) obese rat as a model for thestudy of exercise in obesity.’ Gobatto CA, Mello MA, Souza CT ,Ribeiro IA. Res Commun Mol Pathol Pharmacol. 2002.
‘Adrenalectomy abolishes the food-induced hypothalamicserotonin release in both normal and monosodium glutamate-obeserats.’ Guimaraes RB, Telles MM, Coelho VB, Mori C, Nascimento CM,Ribeiro.
Brain Res Bull. 2002 Aug.
‘Obesity induced by neonatal monosodium glutamate treatmentin spontaneouslyhypertensive rats: An animal model of multiple riskfactors.’ Iwase M, Yamamoto M, Iino K, Ichikawa K, Shinohara N,Yoshinari Fujishima. Hypertens Res. 1998 Mar.
‘Hypothalamic lesion induced by injection of monosodiumglutamate in suckling period and subsequent development of obesity.’Tanaka K, Shimada M, Nakao K Kusunoki. Exp Neurol. 1978 Oct.
No, the date of that last study was not a typo; it waspublished in 1978. Both the ‘medical research community’ and‘foodmanufacturers’ have known about the side effects of MSG for decades.
Many more of the studies mentioned in John Erb’s book linkMSG to diabetes, migraines and headaches, autism, ADHD, and evenAlzheimer’s.
So what can we do to stop the food manufactures from dumpingthis fattening and addictive MSG into our food supply and causing theobesity epidemic we nowsee?
Several months ago, John Erb took his book and his concernsto one of the highest government health officials in Canada . While he was sitting in the government office, the official told him,‘Sure, I know how bad MSG is. I wouldn’t touch the stuff.’ Butthistop-level government official refuses to tell the public what heknows.
The big media doesn’t want to tell the public either, fearingissues with their advertisers. It seems that the fallout on the fastfood industry may hurt their profit margin. The food producers andrestaurants have been addicting us to their products for years, andnow we are paying the price for it. Our children should not becursed with obesity caused by an addictive food additive.
But what can I do about it? I’m just one voice! What can Ido to stop the poisoning of our children, while our governmentsareinsuring financial protection for the industry that is poisoning us?
This message is going out to everyone I know in an attempt to tellyou the truth that the corporate-owned politicians and media won’ttell you.
The best way you can help to save yourself and your childrenfrom this drug-induced epidemic is to forward this article toeveryone. With any luck, it will circle the globe before politicianscan pass the legislation protecting those who are poisoning us.
The food industry learned a lot from the tobacco industry.Imagine if big tobacco had a bill like this in place before someoneblew the whistle on nicotine?
If you are one of the few who can still believe that MSG isgood for us and you don’t believe what John Erb has to say, see foryourself. Go to the National Library of Medicine atwww.pubmed.com.
Type in the words ‘MSG Obese’ and read a few of the 115medical studies that appear.
We the public do not want to be rats in one giant experiment, and we do not approve of food that makes us into a nation of obese, lethargic, addicted sheep, feeding the food industry’s bottom linewhile waiting for the heart transplant, the diabetic-inducedamputation, blindness, or other obesity-
induced, life-threatening disorders.
With your help we can put an end to this poison.
Do your part in sending this message out by word of mouth,e-mail, or by distribution of this printout to your friends all overthe world and stop this ‘Slow Poisoning of Mankind’ by the packagedfood industry.
Blowing the whistle on MSG is our responsibility, so get the wordout.
