The endless and brief moment when ocean greets shore, when darkness welcomes dawn, when air levies earth, when inspiration becomes expiration... when dreams whisper to awakening..when life eases into death. A space where time is not as we know it to be; a time rich in mystery & magic.

(CNN) -- "John McCain needs what Kinky Friedman calls "a checkup from the neck up."
In choosing Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate, he is not thinking "outside the box," as some have said. More like out of his mind.
Palin a first-term governor of a state with more reindeer than people, will have to put on a few pounds just to be a lightweight. Her personal story is impressive: former fisherman, mother of five. But that hardly qualifies her to be a heartbeat away from the presidency.
For a man who is 72 years old and has had four bouts with cancer to have chosen someone so completely unqualified to become president is shockingly irresponsible. Suddenly, McCain's age and health become central issues in the campaign, as does his judgment.
In choosing this featherweight, McCain passed over Tom Ridge, a decorated combat hero, a Cabinet secretary and the former two-term governor of the large, complex state of Pennsylvania.
He passed over Mitt Romney, who ran a big state, Massachusetts; a big company, Bain Capital; and a big event, the Olympics.
He passed over Kay Bailey Hutchison, the Texas senator who is knowledgeable about the military, good on television and -- obviously -- a woman.
He passed over Joe Lieberman, his best friend in the Senate and fellow Iraq Kool-Aid drinker.
He passed over former congressman, trade negotiator and budget director Rob Portman.
And he also passed over Mike Huckabee, the governor of Arkansas.
For months, the McCainiacs have said they will run on his judgment and experience. In his first presidential decision, John McCain has shown that he is willing to endanger his country, potentially leaving it in the hands of someone who simply has no business being a heartbeat away from the most powerful, complicated, difficult job in human history. Who Orchestrated the Fall of Bear Stearns?
By Nicholas von Hoffman, The Nation. Posted August 15, 2008.
"Americans know all the sleazy details of the Edwards affair. But they remain in the dark about a scandal that affects the livelihoods of millions. "
"This is one scandal the National Enquirer has not reported. No babies with mystery fathers, no former vice presidential candidates cowering in a hotel basement to escape the paparazzi.
This scandal, relegated to the business pages if covered at all, is un-juicy compared to l'affaire Edwards, with a wife betrayed, children humiliated, hypocrisy exposed -- it is a small wonder, after the ethical hemming and hawing, that the big-time publishers and broadcasters jumped in to take part in the fun.
Yet, entertainment value aside, the Edwards scandal directly affected almost nobody but the Edwards family and a few disillusioned followers. The Bear Stearns conspiracy scandal affected and continues to affect tens of thousands of people in all sorts of ways.
As the story lacked prurient interest, it was left to Bloomberg.com to unearth persuasive information that the Wall Street firm was seemingly brought down by a conspiracy that netted its participants a profit of upwards of $250 million on an investment of $1.7 million in a week or so. Nice work, if you can get it.
The putative conspirators, whose name or names have not been made public, pulled off their heist with ease. They bought a bunch of what Wall Street calls "puts." A put is a piece of paper guaranteeing its owner the right to sell 100 shares of stock at a stated price within a specified period of time. In the case of this bank job, the period of time was as little as five days.
With Bear Stearns stock selling at over $60 a share, somebody bought the right to sell almost 6 million shares at $30 a share. To make money on these puts, the price of Bear Stearns stock would have to lose more than half its value fast. In fact, in the days immediately after the unknown person or persons bought all those puts, Bears Stearns stock dropped like a duck shot out of the sky, to a price of $10 a share or less. The persons behind the scheme then bought Bear Stearns shares at $10 or less and exercised the puts, thereby selling them for $30 and pocketing the difference.
How could someone know that in a matter of days the fifth-largest trading house on Wall Street would see the value of its stock drop to next to nothing?
"Even if I were the most bearish man on earth, I can't imagine buying puts 50 percent below the price with just over a week to expiration," says Thomas Haugh, general partner of Chicago-based options trading firm PTI Securities & Futures LP, cited by Gary Matsumoto of Bloomberg. "It's not even on the page of rational behavior, unless you know something."
Then with the price of stock still above $50, somebody bought puts giving them the right to sell the stock at five dollars a share -- which is about what you would expect to be the price of the shares of a company in bankruptcy. Matsumoto quotes one broker as saying, "When you buy $5 strikes [puts] when the stock is trading over $50, you either have to be manipulating, or you have to have insider information." Another broker quoted in his report remarked, "Nobody in their right mind would buy that put unless you knew what was going down."
The timing of the purchase of the puts screams out that a well-placed person inside Bear Stearns was telling someone on the outside of the firm's increasing confusion and division. At a crucial moment when rumors were rife on Wall Street that Bear Stearns customers would not be able to withdraw their money, the stock market was hit by a large number of orders to sell Bear Stearns stock. That augmented the force of the rumors of insolvency already working to depress the price, even as panicky customers fell over one another getting their money out. There are too many disastrous coincidences here to be explained just by bad luck.
The name of the bearer of this bad luck remains hidden. A spokeswoman for the Chicago Board of Options Exchange, where the puts were bought, has refused to tell Bloomberg the name.
We know the name of the mother of the baby John Edwards did or did not sire, but we are in the dark as to who may have authored the scheme that cost thousands of people their jobs and their savings and that gave the financial markets a major kick down the mountain, a fall that will continue to take millions of us with them."

During the last week of July, the Department of Defense notified Congress about the proposed sale of $10.9 billion in U.S. military equipment and support to Iraq through the Foreign Military Sales program. Besides the eye-catching price tag - which, at $10.9 billion, is greater than the value of all other U.S. arms sales to Iraq since 2005 combined - the equipment included in the proposed agreement represents a potential watershed in the development of Iraq's military capabilities. The sale not only carries implications for the balance of power in the region, but also raises important questions about oversight, accountability, and transparency in a country riddled with internal violence. The art work, titled "Complex S(expletive)", is the size of a house. The wind carried it 200 metres (yards) from the Paul Klee Centre in Berne before it fell back to Earth in the grounds of a children's home, said museum director Juri Steiner.
The inflatable turd broke the window at the children's home when it blew away on the night of July 31, Steiner said. The art work has a safety system which normally makes it deflate when there is a storm, but this did not work when it blew away.
Steiner said McCarthy had not yet been contacted and the museum was not sure if the piece would be put back on display.

Protestors who kill for their religious beliefs. “Patriot Pastors” who seek to change American culture through the ballot box. Zealots who target prime ministers and presidents with assassination for “subverting God’s will.” Parents who reject science education in conflict with their religious principles. Suicide martyrs who are revered as iconic heroes. These are “God’s Warriors” of Christianity, Islam and Judaism. They see contemporary society as corrupt andview themselves as the front line of defense in a battle for cultural supremacy and political power. They are changing the world.
CNN chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour journeyed to seven countries over seven months to report for God’s Warriors, a CNN Presents worldwide television event about the global phenomenon of religious fervor upon politics, culture and public life. During six hours broadcast over three consecutive nights, CNN will reveal how “God’s Warriors” want to bring religion back from the periphery to the center of public life – and how far they are willing to go to transform modern society.
God’s Warriors includes thought-provoking interviews with former U.S. President Jimmy Carter; the late Rev. Jerry Falwell in his last television interview; Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Muslim women’s rights advocate; Yehuda Etzion, a founder of the Israeli settlement movement; and Israeli President Shimon Peres.
Here in America...we are blessed by God ..to have "BATTLE CRY" wow....un holy believeable.

For unknown reasons. I feel these calling to me...any thoughts anyone???
The stars called PLEIADES in the constellation of Taurus commemorate the PLEIADES, daughters of Atlas and Pleione, daughter of Oceanus. The rising of the PLEIADES is a sign of summer, and their setting of winter, and for this reason this constellation has been more honored than the others.
It is said that the PLEIADES are seven in number but only six can be seen. Some say that the reason is that all mated with immortals except one of them (Merope 1). However, others affirm that because of the sack of Troy and the destruction of the house of Dardanus 1, Electra 3 left her sisters, and took a place in the Artic circle. http://homepage.mac.com/cparada/GML/PLEIADES.html
The Starfish Story
Original Story by: Loren Eisley
One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed
a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”
The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean.
The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”
“Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish?
You can’t make a difference!”
Then, smiling at the man, he said…”
It made a difference for that one.”

The Nuremberg Code meets USDA hearings. You coming? by Scaredhuman // Sat Aug 02, 2008 at 06:00:45 PM PDT
There are USDA "listening sessions" on the Child Nutrition Act this summer. Sound boring? It's about as basic to your freedom as things get.
The USDA, through the Child Nutrition Act has been giving American children rBGH-milk. That is, milk from cows injected with genetically engineer hormones. rBGH is the first genetically engineered product ever approved by the FDA. It is a Monsanto product and was approved while Monsanto ran the FDA and while scientists there tried to tell Congress that Monsanto was fiddling the numbers, and they were fired.
Genetic engineering is neither a minor alteration of DNA or adequately tested. http://online.sfsu.edu/~rone/GEessays/gedanger.htm
- Scaredhuman's diary :: ::
"Genetic engineering is like performing heart surgery with a shovel. Scientists do not yet understand living systems completely enough to perform DNA surgery without creating mutations which could be harmful to the environment and our health. They are experimenting with very delicate, yet powerful forces of nature, without full knowledge of the repercussions." (Washington Times 1997, The Village Voice 1998) http://www.safe-food.org/-issue/dangers.html
A new biologic technology is being forced on our population. The imposition of agents with powerful potential medical consequences violate the Nuremberg Code.
- The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential. This means that the person involved should have legal capacity to give consent; should be so situated as to be able to exercise free power of choice, without the intervention of any element of force, fraud, deceit, duress, over-reaching, or other ulterior form of constraint or coercion; and should have sufficient knowledge and comprehension of the elements of the subject matter involved as to enable him to make an understanding and enlightened decision. This latter element requires that before the acceptance of an affirmative decision by the experimental subject there should be made known to him the nature, duration, and purpose of the experiment; the method and means by which it is to be conducted; all inconveniences and hazards reasonable to be expected; and the effects upon his health or person which may possibly come from his participation in the experiment.
The experiment should be such as to yield fruitful results for the good of society, unprocurable by other methods or means of study, and not random and unnecessary in nature.
... (Including 9 more requirements.)

Imposing rBGH - and any other genetically engineered item, including all rBGH-milk products as well as all corn and soy products - through the Child Nutrition Act removes even parental involvement and adult consent.
As much as we have reason to resist toxics, we have reason to be careful of biotechnology. http://environmentalcommons.org/cetos/articles/whygenes.html
And yet our children have been experimented on since the 1990s, and by Monsanto, the same corporation which has brought one of the most dangerous toxins ever into the world - PCBs - without honesty about how cancer-causing. http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/http://www.veoh.com/videos/v14896857bNt9dpJt features/2008/05/monsanto200805 It has also provide pesticides - organophosphates - extreme in their toxity, and long-lasting.
The combination of Monsanto and the USDA is particularly worrisome in connection with what we are being subjected to.
In 2008 alone, these things have occurred:
The USDA suspended pesticide data reporting.
http://www.organicconsumers.org/articles/article_12480.cfm
http://blog.greens.org.nz/2008/06/23/usda-suspends-pesticide-reporting-to-benefit-monsanto/
The USDA approved or deregulated a new Monsanto variety that produces two independent proteins lethal to insects and reduces the refuge area that farmers have been required to provide.
http://blog.cornandsoybeandigest.com/briefingroom/2008/07/25/monsantoâs-new-plant-protection-technology-clears-usda-approval/
The USDA approved Monsanto's genetically engineered sugar beets and is now being sued.
http://blog.pennlive.com/naturalliving/2008/01/monsanto.html
"It turns out that the damage done to DNA due to the process of creating a genetically modified organism is far more extensive than previously thought.[1] GM crops routinely create unintended proteins, alter existing protein levels or even change the components and shape of the protein that is created by the inserted gene. Kirk’s concerns about a GM crop producing a harmful misfolded protein remain well-founded, and have been echoed by scientists as one of the many possible dangers that are not being evaluated by the biotech industry’s superficial safety assessments." http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=SMI20061119&articleId=3912
The Monsanto connection to the USDA is known. Monsanto is going state to state to block labeling of milk and other genetically engineered food and cloned animals. The USDA has done nothing to stop it despite the increased risk rBGH poses for breast cancer, colon cancer and prostate cancer, but has been more than willing to ban real milk, associated with no cancers and drunk by human beings for millennia.
Last year the USDA okayed a human/rice hybrid. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/03/06/rice_humans/
"The first ever plant/human hybrid is to be approved for commercial scale cultivation. According to reports, the US authorities have given preliminary approval for the crop to be grown on a 3,000 acre plot in Kansas.
"The plant in question is rice, but it has been spliced with human DNA that will make it grow a protein found in both human breast milk and saliva. Ventria Bioscience, the California-based firm behind the crop, says the protein can be used to treat children with diarrhoea.
"The decision by the US Department of Agriculture has provoked an outcry from anti-GM campaigners because of concerns over contamination of the food chain, possible allergic reactions to the proteins, and a lack of knowledge on the impact such large scale cultivation might have."
So, when you hear that the USDA is providing "listening sessions" on the Child Nutrition Act and WIC, think whether any parent or any child in this country has given consent to be in a scientific experiment on genetically engineering food. Think, too, whether the genetically engineered corn has not already had an impact on this country into terms of a rise in type 2 diabetes in all of us, including the highly unusual fact of type 2 diabetes in children. http://www.organicconsumers.org/articles/article_776.cfm
The experiment seems to have failed, or succeeded if diabetes is worth money. The greater the fear of diabetes, the more likely people are to eat sugar-free food which contains aspartame and Equal and other artificial sweeteners now implicated in causing and worsening diabetes. And yet people continue buying the fake sweeteners, thinking they are protecting themselves. It's a strange feedback system of fearing a disease and taking something to avoid it yet triggering it and then increasing demand for the very thing that increases damage during the disease.

We need to stop blaming families and children for weight gain (aspartame is associated with weight gain http://www.321recipes.com/aspartame.html) and weight gain for diabetes, but, instead, make sure our families have access to real food.
Beginning in our schools make sense.
Call the appropriate number below for information, and then bring as many organization - parents, food, health, anti-Monsanto, organic, farming, children, cancer prevention, human rights, religious, etc - and as many neighbors, friends and family as possible to these hearings, to demand one simple thing - that there be informed consent offered before the USDA can force any more genetically engineered food on our children in a Monsanto biologic experiment on this culture that already looks to have gone haywire.
Demand LABELED normal food for our children and you will simultaneously be directing our tax dollars to our real farmers who are the ones raising organic food and grass-fed cattle, and not to the Big Ag corporations which have brought you UNLABELED genetically engineered food and hormones, as well as pesticides, steroids and antibiotics in the food.
Make this a priority. It's democracy, at the level of life itself.

we ARE in a time of darkness.
It is a moment of definition....Who are you? What are you made of?
This is a moment that separates the real from the illusion, the strong from the weak, the truth from the lie. http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEmono/TSE2008/TSE2008.html
"Some of us who have already begun to break the silence of the night have found that the calling to speak is often a vocation of agony, but we must speak. We must speak with all the humility that is appropriate to our limited vision, but we must speak.
And we must rejoice as well, for surely this is the first time in our nation's history that a significant number of its religious leaders have chosen to move beyond the prophesying of smooth patriotism to the high grounds of a firm dissent based upon the mandates of conscience and the reading of history.
Perhaps a new spirit is rising among us.
If it is, let us trace its movement, and pray that our own inner being may be sensitive to its guidance.
For we are deeply in need of a new way beyond the darkness that seems so close around us."
